     John Ray Initiative. Dates for your diary.
     Globalisation Forum. 21st November 2002, London
     We are holding a forum on 'globalisation and the global environment' in
     London on the 21st November 2002, the day of our Annual General Meeting.
     This will be held at St Paul's, Robert Adam Street (nr Baker Street),
     from 12.00 to 16.00. The formal AGM at 12.00 will be followed by lunch
     and a short act of worship.
     In the afternoon, as well as updates on JRI projects, we shall through
     presentations and discussions explore the issues around globalisation
     and the global environment. Speakers will include Dr Peter Heslam
     (Director, Capitalism Project, London Institute for Contemporary
     Christianity and author of Globalisation - Unravelling the New
     Capitalism, Grove Book E125) and Christopher Jones (Farmer and
     Coordinator of the  Agriculture and Theology Project).
     We should be very pleased if you were able to join us for this event.
     For catering and accommodation purposes, however, please can you let us
     know in advance if you do plan to come by contacting my colleague David

     Jesus and the earth. The Gospel and the future of the environment. 8th
     February 2003, Cheltenham.
     This day conference is being run jointly by JRI and the Department of
     Theology and Religious Studies at the University of Gloucestershire. It
     will consider the environment in the light of the Gospel and the Gospel
     in the light of the environment.
     Speakers will include Bishop James Jones, Sir John Houghton, the Rev'd
     Dr Michael Northcott, Caroline Spelman MP and Dr Peter Carruthers. The
     Conference will be held at the University of Gloucestershire's Francis
     Close Hall Campus, Swindon Road, Cheltenham from 9.30 to 17.30 on
     Saturday, 8th February 2003.
     I shall e-mail you again with a full programme and booking details,
     early in October, but please put the date in your diary now. If you
     would like to receive a conference brochure and registration form by
     post, again please contact David Thistlethwaite as above.
