   Dear Jim and Sandy,
Many thanks for inviting me to this event in June. This sounds a really wonderful event at
   a wonderful place.
Unfortunately, my schedule of activities around early June will not allow me to attend, but
I see that several of my colleagues from UEA or from the Tyndall Centre hope to be there so
I am sure I will benefit from the event, even if vicariously.
   Best wishes,
   Mike

     Dear Prof Hulme
This is to confirm that the Gaia and Global Change conference will run from 9 am on
Thursday 3rd June to 6 pm on Saturday the 5th, with arrival and registration on
Wednesday afternoon the 2nd June. A splendid group of people, specialists in their
field, have agreed to come and share their expertise, and there should be ample time for
discussions. Members of the public will be welcome to join us for lunch and participate
in the afternoon programme on the final day.
It would help us in the planning if you could confirm
     a) you are able to come and, if you are,
     b) whether you could arrive on the Wednesday afternoon, and
     c) your full mailing address, preferred title, and how you want yourself described in
     the list of participants.
We hope to send you a draft programme in the next week or so.
It already looks like an exciting meeting and we look forward to your joining in the
     lively exchanges.
     With best wishes
     Jim and Sandy Lovelock
