Merylyn,

The thought occurred to us whether to get some extra publicity over our new paper showing evidence for increasing winter-time P intensities. This work will be published probably in January 2000 and could generate some interest, especially if we have had some intense winter precip. I know Cathy Johnson from DETR also thought this an interesting piece of work (see email below), possible another CC indicator.

If you think it a good idea, could we liaise with DETR over timing and content?

The precise publication date depends on the journal, but I can find this out.

Mike

Dear Mike

I circulated your recent report to colleagues. Penny asks if your very interesting findings on the trends in UK precipitation, and also that HadCM2 gets the relationship right between airflow and UK weather, are known to UKCIP?

It would be good "publicity material" for Merylyn to include in talks etc.

Best wishes
Cathy
