   Mike,

below are the details for Tuesday's BBC briefing at White City in Shepherds Bush. Rebekah
Philips will meet you at the Stage Door (clearly signposted) at 1pm for a buffet lunch
before a 1:30 start. It finishes at 2:30.

   Rebekah's mob number is 07952 542505 and office is 0207 973 6038

Your topics for 15 minutes should ideally include: Scientific evidence for climate change,
scientific forecasts showing the implications of climate change- and if possible also the
social implications of climate change and alternative methods to deal with greenhouse gases
(carbon sequestration etc). Minimum props/slides. There are questions for the final 15
minutes of the hour-long lunchtime briefing, finishing at 2:30.

The introduction is by Tim Hirsch

The Kyoto briefing is by Palab Gosh

James Cameron is talking on the business world and environmental obligations

   Further details are below.

   Dear Asher,

Here are the details for the climate change seminar- hope it is clear, please do get back
to me if you have any further questions and I will give you a ring tomorrow to find out how
you are going with finding a speaker.

Thank you so much for your help,

   Rebekah

Date and Venue: Wednesday 23rd June, Bridge Lounge, BBC Television Centre, White City,
   London
Speakers are asked to arrive at 1pm for sandwiches, drinks and
   preparation time

Topics to be covered: We would like your scientist to cover the following areas: Scientific
evidence for climate change, scientific forecasts showing the implications of climate
change- and if possible also the social implications of climate change and alternative
methods to deal with greenhouse gases (carbon sequestration etc). Minimum props/slides

Audience: The journalists present will be a mixture of those specialised in the
field of the environment and science and those that cover more general subjects but who
will be working on a week on climate change that the BBC is running on News 24 in early
July. The pitch level needs to be a mixture of an overview of the subject for the more
unspecialised journalists present and meaty information/analysis and theories for the more
   specialised journalists.

Format: The format will be along these lines: There will be an introduction
by one of our environment correspondents giving an overview of the topic (5 mins), which
will probably lead directly into the section covered by your scientist on the science
behind the causes and implications of climate change (15 mins). There will then be a
section on the Kyoto Protocol (10 mins) and we would then like your scientist to cover
other methods to deal with greenhouse gases (5 mins). This will be followed by the business
perspective; the economics of the carbon cycle, the implications of emissions trading
on business, how the business world needs to adapt to comply with environmental obligations
etc (15 mins-to be covered by a speaker from Climate Change Capital). There will then be
10-15 mins of questions from the audience.
