I know this will come out of the blue , BUT
is there any chance you could write a few paragraphs reviewing the whole area of borehole
temperatures , mostly on the Hemispheric scale , to go in Chapter 6 of the IPCC FAR?
Looking at the papers I have available , I realise that in the time available ( a week!) I
can not do justice to the need to understand critically the issues of interpretation that
bare on whether the question of agreement or disagreement with the various proxy
reconstructions. At this stage I just need quick input for the zero order draft (now late)
with references and authoritative account of the consensus between you guys of the
so-called "optimal" interpretation of Mann of these data in the context of other (up to
date) interpretations and problems therein . Please get back to me as soon as ..
would be really grateful --- and yes should have asked much earlier
   Keith
