Paul was a research student here, qualified in 1998. He now works for Risk
Managaemnt Solutions, a company which provides scientific consultancy
services to insurance and (mainly) reinsurance companies.

There might be opportunities here.

Subject: Opportunities at RMS

Hi Jean, Nigel,

I am mailing you both in the aim of being an active 'node' on your
respective networks. RMS is actively recruiting in all areas of its
business, not least the research side of the organization. There are
opportunities coming up in the areas of geo/climate sciences and risk
analysis. This could be right up the street of students from
multi-disciplinary institutes such as ENV/CRU & ICCET, with a spectrum of
opportunity from inexperienced people through to specialists.

I enclose a sample of our latest internal job mailing list and you can see
the breadth of skills required. Obviously job descriptions hide a lot of
details, and exact job content is negotiable for the right candidate (for
example we have recently hired an Earthquake PhD straight from Oxford to our
office in California) - well aimed speculative applications may well hit the
mark at this point in time. If you are talking to any undergrad/MSc/PhD
students about career plans, and they are expressing interest in selling
their souls to the big corporation, then you could bear opportunities at RMS
in mind! They should visit www.rms.com or you can direct them to me
intially.

I hope everything is well for you both. I am out at our office in Delhi at
the moment doing planning work for our future flood modeling agenda. With
best regards, Paul
