     Keith/Tim,
there is a plaeo meeting sometime in June -- can you remind me

     How was the town meeting?

   Simon,
the palaeodata and modelling meeting is:
The meeting will be held on 13, 14 and 15 June 2002 in Hotel Mercure,
   >>Louvain-la-neuve, Belgium.
you'll be hearing from Hans Renssen soon, because I think we're going to ask you to talk
about simulating climate over the past 1000 years (or some subset of it!).
Keith can give you a steering committee member's perspective on the town meeting, but from
my perspective...it was pretty much as expected, in that it was probably useful for people
who were new to RAPID but of less use if you were already familiar with the details.
Having said that, it was useful to show one's face etc. Best bit was when Marotzke said
they wouldn't *just* fiddle with models or *just* toss things into the ocean - they'd do
*both*! A rather light-hearted approach to spending 20m.
I had my NERC fellowship interview yesterday...it went pretty well I thought, though some
of the interviewer's seemed unconvinced about the utility of palaeodata for testing climate
   models.
   Regards
   Tim
