   Chris,
Probably too late for you but .......
   - the Anglo-German seminar on 3 November in Berlin is relevant; John Schellnhuber will have
   told you about this.
   - the Defra initiated scientific conference in February in Exeter; Tyndall's background
paper on stabilisation research may well be used by Defra and Tyndall may contribute in
   other ways
   - I understand that a joint RC-UK conference in early summer may be happening; I think we
discussed this and I know Asher Minns has been in touch with Sheila Anderson and the ERFF
   - we will also be aiming to produce our 2005 issue of our magazine, the Effect, ahead of
the G8 July Gleneagles meeting so that publicity about Tyndall Phase 1 discoveries can be
   in the public realm
And of course the Tyndall Phase 2 decision will be made in April 2005; perhaps a timely
announcement might be politically attractive to UK government to demonstrate on-going
support for solutions-oriented UK research into climate change. Ministers like these types
   of announcements!

     Mike,
I am going to a meeting of the DEFRA-led GECC on Monday and one item on
the agenda is 'Preparation fo UK G8 and EU presidency'. As background,
or for reporting to the meeting, is there anything that Tyndall is
involved with in those that I should be aware of?
     Thanks.
