   Neil,
   This seems OK to me.
   - is 60 people per workshop rather a lot? Too many perhaps to get the most interaction out
   of people.
   - to help the continuity of any network that emerges it may be important to secure the
support of the respective Local Governer's Offices in these events, even if it a small
amount of support; if they feel they have a stake in this process they may be more willing
to encourage the future functioning of any networks that emerge from the workshops
   - if the study team are to present lists of adaptation options at the workshops for the
stakeholders, they should perhaps be careful how these are presented - the real experts are
probably the officials, livestock managers and herders.

     Dear Colleagues,
Attached for your review and comment is a proposal from AS06 (Mongolia) for a
supplemental grant of $15,000 to be used for workshops to engage communities in
identification and evaluation of adaptation measures. I hope to be able to give them a
response by 19 February. If you cannot send comments before then, and intend to review
and comment on the proposal, let me know so that I can delay action till I get your
     review.
     Recent actions on supplemental grants:
     SIS09 grant approved.
AF20 grant approved. Have suggested that they switch the order of their 2 workshops
(hold end-user workshop 1st, climate modeling/analysis training 2nd). Also asked them to
invite someone with expertise in communicating climate information to end-users and
designing decision support systems. Suggested Maxx Diley of IRI as one possibility.
AF90 - asked them to provide more details.
AF91 - you did not receive their proposal as it was insufficiently detailed. Have asked
them to revise. Their intent is to get training in development and application of
socioeconomic scenarios and they propose to do this with Clarke University. We
previously awarded them $10,000 for stakeholder workshops. They hope to get $5000 more
     for the proposed training.
AF23, AF38, AF92, AS07, and LA29 have informed me that they intend to submit proposals
soon. AF23 was previously awarded $6000 for Greg Knight to provide training and
assistance. They inend to request another $9000.
SIS90 (Seychelles, Comoros) has informed me that they do not intend to submit a proposal
     for a supplemental grant.
That accounts for all the projects.
     Cheers,
     Neil
